5/05/12 date last Saturday night there is a natural phenomenon that rarely occurs in Earth's sky, the Supermoon or Lunar perigee. At that, the full moon will appear to be more beautiful and larger than usual, because when the moon is at its closest to Earth. So, the moon will look bigger than usual.

Supermoon occurs when the full moon occurs at the same time with a perigee Moon, when the moon is at its closest to Earth. Supermoon can be seen just after the sun sank until shortly before dawn the next day. Of course, the conditions of clear skies without any clouds and rain is a necessary condition witnessed this phenomenon.

Mutoha Arkanuddin of Jogja Astro Club (JAC) when contacted by Kompas.com, Wednesday (05/02/2012), said, "From Indonesia, I think, Supermoon this year better than last year." Supermoon last year occurred on March 19, 2011.

The impact of this Supermoon own moon was 10% more closely, 14% greater, and 30% brighter.

However, it changes the size and brightness will not seem too conspicuous when viewed with the naked eye, said Dr Robert Massey, of the Royal Astronomical Society as reported Dailymail. After reaching the point of closest orbit, then the full moon appears slightly visible changes.

Fenomena Peristiwa Supermoon

Sabtu malam tanggal 5/05/12 kemarin ada sebuah fenomena alam yang jarang terjadi di langit Bumi, yaitu Supermoon atau Lunar perigee. Disaat tersebut, bulan yang purnama akan nampak lebih cantik dan besar dari pada biasanya,  karena dimana bulan berada pada titik terdekat dengan bumi. Jadi, bulan akan terlihat lebih besar dari biasanya.

Supermoon terjadi ketika purnama terjadi pada saat yang sama dengan perigee Bulan, kala Bulan berada pada titik terdekat dengan Bumi.  Supermoon bisa disaksikan sesaat setelah Matahari tenggelam hingga sesaat sebelum fajar menyingsing esok harinya. Tentu saja, kondisi langit cerah tanpa awan dan hujan adalah syarat mutlak menyaksikan fenomena ini. 


Jarak normal antara bumi dengan bulan kurang lebih sekitar 380.000 km, sedangkan saat Supermoon jarak antara bumi dengan bulan sekitar 356.000 km, jadi supermoon terjadi dengan selisih 24.000 km lebih dekat  dengan bumi daripada biasanya.

Mutoha Arkanuddin dari Jogja Astro Club (JAC) saat dihubungi Kompas.com, Rabu (2/5/2012), mengatakan, "Dari Indonesia, menurut saya, Supermoon tahun ini lebih bagus dari tahun kemarin." Supermoon tahun lalu terjadi pada 19 Maret 2011. Dampak Supermoon ini sendiri  bulan tampak 10% lebih dekat, 14% lebih besar, dan 30% lebih terang. 

Walaupun demikian, memang perubahan ukuran dan kecerahan tersebut tidak akan nampak terlalu mencolok jika dilihat dengan mata telanjang, kata Dr Robert Massey, dari the Royal Astronomical Society seperti dilansir Dailymail. Setelah mencapai titik orbit terdekat, barulah bulan purnama nampak sedikit terlihat perubahannya.

Para ahli pun membantah mitos yang mengatakan bahwa saat supermoon terjadi, kemungkinan akan mempengaruhi otak manusia hingga banyak kejahatan yang akan terjadi.Supermoon kadang juga dihubungkan dengan bencana seperti gempa bumi, namun hingga saat ini tidak ada bukti yang menunjukkan kaitan Supermoon dan bencana. 

Namun demikian, Mutoha mengatakan bahwa dampak Supermoon pada pasang air laut perlu diwaspadai. "Daerah-daerah yang rendah seperti Semarang perlu waspada. Karena jarak Bulan lebih dekat, maka pengaruh gravitasinya juga lebih besar."

Jadi, ambil sisi positif nya kita bisa menikmati indah nya bulan yang jarang terjadi, untuk mitos-mitos yang beredar sama sekali tidak ada hubungannya dengan terjadinya Supermoon ini, jangan terlalu percaya hehe:)
